MacArthur Fellow and author Richard Powers joins NCP and the newly formed Kamea string quartet. Part reading, part concert, this event will take the audience through the adventure of Peter Els, a composer turned scientist whose attempts to find musical patterns in living cells arouses the suspicions of Homeland Security. NCP and Chimera will perform a wide range of music, such as classics by Barber & Messiaen as well as music by contemporary composers Philip Glass and Stephen Taylor, who will conduct his new piece Writhe. Orfeo was longlisted for the 2014 Man Booker prize. This concert will be styled by Ashley Pruitt, Fashion Director of FLATT Magazine.
